How Our Ambit Cares Partners Are Helping During COVID-19

More than 4,000 people lined the streets leading to a Cleveland, OH food bank at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This news story and others like it have placed hunger in the headlines because many people are facing unemployment and schools are out across the country. Our Ambit Cares partners are taking steps to ensure those who are among the most vulnerable have meals during this unprecedented crisis.

Feeding America Launches COVID-19 Response Fund
Feeding America launched a COVID-19 Response Fund, a national food and fundraising effort, to help those facing hunger due to the pandemic. They are also working with federal officials to support the School Lunch Program, which is more important than ever now that students across the country are out of school. They have also joined forces with government programs to provide additional resources to food banks nationwide.

Vistra Energy Gives $2 Million Donation
Vistra Energy, the parent company of Ambit Energy, announced a $2 million dollar donation to national nonprofits and social service agencies across the states where Vistra does business. Ambit Cares received a portion of the donation which will help food banks in the Ambit Cares’ communities where Customers, Consultants and employees live and work.

North Texas Food Bank
More than 250 members of the Texas National Guard are deployed to The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) to help with the increased demand for food. This move will allow the NTFB to create 60,000 family meal boxes per week for their mobile, drive-through food pantry and partner agencies.
